Tactical C5ISR Asset Tracking Network

Project Overview

The Tactical C5ISR Asset Tracking Network is a distributed electronic platform designed to improve the visibility and coordination of equipment, vehicles, and other mission-critical assets across dispersed operating environments.

The system uses rugged wireless nodes to establish a decentralized communications network capable of identifying connected assets, exchanging status information, and relaying data across extended areas without relying entirely on fixed communications infrastructure. Individual nodes can serve as asset interfaces, network relays, or gateways, allowing the architecture to adapt as operational requirements and deployment conditions change.

The platform is designed around modular embedded hardware, configurable communications, low-power operation, and integration with broader command-and-control systems. This approach supports asset tracking and field data collection while allowing additional sensors, interfaces, and C5ISR capabilities to be incorporated as mission requirements evolve.

Engineering Challenges

1
Distributed communications
Network nodes must exchange and relay information reliably across dispersed assets without depending on a single communications point.
2
Variable operating environments
Wireless performance, network topology, and available infrastructure can change significantly between deployment locations.
3
Power-constrained operation
Remote nodes require efficient power management to support extended operation from batteries or other limited field power sources.
4
System interoperability
The platform must accommodate different assets, sensors, communications interfaces, and external C5ISR systems.
5
Rugged field deployment
Electronic hardware and communications equipment must be designed around the environmental and operational demands of deployed use.
